mother's day weekend, finally

I have had some pretty strong feelings about these types of holidays in the past.  I've had a few mother's days that just didn't really hit the mark, and I was frustrated that I was frustrated over something as silly as mother's day.  and so, this year I changed my mindset.  less is more.  and everly is now old enough to realize that she should give me a break, at least on something, like wearing the green dress I suggested, instead of the two dresses that she pulled from her closet that can only be described as 'play clothes'.

we spent some time in alameda with my family, spent some time eating at one of our favorite lunch spots, spent some time shopping, and spent some time relaxing.  it was quite a nice mother's day weekend indeed.  finally.

as much as we wished my sister lived closer, having a gorgeous and COOL, literally and figuratively, city to visit is not half bad.  especially when the temperatures have crept back up into triple digits, escaping for the day is always on the agenda.  if you live in northern california and haven't visited the tiny island off san francisco, it is a must.  in fact, the mr. and I are currently trying to plan a little anniversary day trip to alameda before I go back to work.  yesterday we took it fairly easy, just ate lunch at Scolari's at the Point, enjoyed the amazing view, antiqued a bit, swam a bit, and took a gorgeous walk along the bay.  thanks meg & bianca for showing us some real gems of your new home.

celebrating six years of marriage - Alameda Beach

On Monday the family and I packed our car and headed to the Bay Area to escape the 107 degree day, and also to celebrate our upcoming wedding anniversary together.  A few weeks back I had visited Crown Memorial State Beach with my sister and Everly and had been dying to go back ever sense. Swimsuits, Ike's Sandwiches, and sandcastles made for a pretty great afternoon.
